  • Fukugonji Okusa 5229 Komaki, Aichi, 485-0802 Japan (map)

ご縁日 (Goennichi) translates to Day of “Goen” or “Serendipitous Connection

Fukugonji opens its gates the second Saturday of each month to provide regular opportunities for people to build and deepen their connections with the temple and with one another. Anyone can participate in the activities from Zazen meditation, to chiropractic sessions, to perusing the delicious and nutritious food stalls. See the schedule below to view what is available each month.

No admission fee required. Anyone and everyone is welcome.

Schedule

  • A monk from Fukugonji Temple will explain Zazen and the essential breathing method, so that even first-timers can participate with confidence.

  • Stalls are run by members who have curated their selection of crafts or produce to share the stories of their producers and to include products that can only be purchased at Fukugonji. All people and products share the intention of bringing joy to the soul and body.

  • This osteopathic technique was invented by the monk Taigu, head monk of Fukugonji. It is also called “Sleeping Meditation” because it brings awareness, healing and alignment to the mind and body, leading to tranquillity and stillness of the mind and body.

  • A monthly memorial service is held to pray for the soul of the deceased. We have many participants come each month. Emotional healing occurs when we recite sutras and learn the teachings of Buddha together. Please feel free to join us even if you are not a bereaved family member.

  • A meditative activity to empty the mind of unpleasant thoughts and muddled feelings. We provide sutras and images of Buddha for you to trace over in the tranquil environment of the Fukugonji.

  • The monks of Fukugonji will answer in layman’s terms the various queries one may have about graves, funeral rites, memorial services and the future management of graves.

They can also introduce you to Fukugonji's Eternal Memorial Cemetery and suggest a grave that best suits your family's wishes.
